If you already know how to put it all together there isn't much else to learn. It's not like you'll be standing there while the machine shop works on it showing you every step. Again I'm telling you this because I've been down your road twice now, send it out and know its done right. As far as rod, puston, bearing combos there are a lot of good setups out there but you won't need to worry if your sending it out. You will learn from having someone do it right the first time. You'll know what was done and why on top of knowing it was done right. I don't see your point on "learning".
